Patient Background: 10-year-old male, active footballer.
Wart Onset: Developed a verruca 3 months before Verrutop treatment. Previous home treatment with Bazuka was attempted by parents without success.
Symptoms: Experienced pain when striking the ball or if the verruca was accidentally hit but reported no daily discomfort.
Treatment Duration: 2 applications of Verrutop.
Response to Treatment: After the first application, there was visible shrinkage. The first picture shows the area immediately after the initial Verrutop application.
Results: One week after the second treatment, the patient's parent reported that the verruca “fell out” after a shower, revealing pain-free, healthy skin underneath. A follow-up picture taken two weeks later showed complete resolution of the verruca, with no visible signs of the wart.
Parent Support: The patient's parent was diligent in applying surgical spirit as directed.
Patient Experience: The child found the treatment completely painless, even mentioning he couldn’t feel anything during the application.
Outcome: Verruca fully resolved after only two treatments, with the patient returning to full activity without pain.
Patient Background: 12-year-old female, active dancer and actress.
Wart Onset: Verruca had been present for over a year with considerable callus buildup due to its location. Patient had tried several over-the-counter remedies previously.
Symptoms: Experienced a burning sensation while walking and occasional pain while dancing.
Treatment Duration: 3 applications of Verrutop.
Response to Treatment: The first photo shows the verruca prior to paring during the initial appointment. After reducing the callus, the area was highly vascular and bled easily. The patient felt mild stinging upon application but reported it was easily manageable.
Results: After the third Verrutop application, a tiny black dot remained at the centre of the verruca, with some frilly edges and skin disruption still visible. One week later, the patient's parent sent a photo showing full resolution of the verruca.
Parent Support: The patient was somewhat inconsistent with surgical spirit application but did apply it after showering.
Patient Experience: Although the patient felt a mild sting with the first treatment, she tolerated it well and found the overall treatment very manageable.
Outcome: Verruca fully resolved after three applications, with no pain or discomfort remaining, and the patient could resume dancing pain-free.
Patient Background: A 15-year-old female, who is both a dancer and acrobat.
Treatment Duration: Six Verrutop applications were completed, using two vials per session.
Post-Treatment Care: After the final treatment in July, the patient continued applying surgical spirit regularly. No other treatments were used.
Response to Treatment:
Throughout the treatment, the patient noticed steady improvement. The Verrutop applications caused minimal discomfort, and her skin began to recover well.
Results:
Approximately eight weeks after finishing the treatment, the verruca resolved on its own. The skin was fully healed, with no sign of the lesion remaining.
Patient Experience:
The patient found the treatment easy to manage, despite her demanding activities as a dancer and acrobat. There was no pain or disruption to her daily routine after the treatment ended.
Outcome:
The patient was able to return to dancing and acrobatics without any discomfort or recurrence of the verruca. Using surgical spirit after the treatment likely supported the healing process.
